Membership Types
Institutional Membership
Institutional Membership consist of the following: 1) Hospitals, both general and special, that care primarily for patients with conditions normally requiring a comparatively short inpatient stay; 2) All other hospitals that provide for the care of patients requiring a comparatively long inpatient stay; and 3) Hospitals owned or operated by the State of Louisiana or the United States of America. Associate Membership
Associate Membership shall be non-voting and shall consist of the following: 1) Other healthcare institutions, except hospitals, that provide for the care of patients requiring an inpatient stay; 2) Dispensaries, clinics, home health agencies and other similar organizations for the diagnosis and treatment of the sick and injured, but not rendering inpatient care; and 3) Groups formally organized for the construction of a new healthcare facility. Associate Members of the LHA enjoy the following privileges: 1) Receive our weekly publication Impact Weekly via email; 2) Attend educational offerings at the Associate Member rate; and 3) Eligibility to participate in the LHA Trust Funds which provides affordable Professional Liability, General Liability, and Workers’ Compensation Coverage. Lifetime Honorary Member
During the last three decades, the LHA has recognized the contributions of several of its past leaders who made substantial contributions to the Association and hospitals in Louisiana.
- Process: All nominations for Lifetime Honorary Personal Membership shall be made to and through the LHA Nominating Committee and be submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval. Candidates for Lifetime Honorary Personal Membership approved by the Board will be recognized at the next annual meeting of the membership.
- Eligibility: In order to be eligible for consideration, nominees must have served a minimum of 20 years as a hospital executive or advocate (the majority of which should have been served in Louisiana); be retired from that capacity; and in the Nominating Committee's opinion based on the information provided, have made significant contributions in support of the mission of the LHA. Lifetime Honorary Personal Members shall pay no dues, will receive the electronic Association newsletter upon request, and will be allowed to attend LHA events with the registration fee waived.
