Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt Training

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: Ideal teams are mid-level leaders and above who are looking to develop skillset to identify and affect change management to improve the overall patient quality and safety within an organization.

COMMITMENT POLICY: Each team participating commits to represent your organization by attending and actively participating in all 5 in-person training sessions and coaching sessions and to completing your project by the assigned due dates.

 

OVERVIEW: The healthcare industry is rapidly identifying the need to transform processes and culture by implementing principles of high reliability, such as LEAN and Six Sigma. In this course, LEAN Six Sigma methodology will move from an abstract concept to a practical tool for class participants to champion key initiatives. In keeping with current statewide initiatives, teams will be encouraged to design projects to improve quality, safety, and reliability.  

 

PROGRAM GOALS
Upon completion of these programs, participants will:
• Earn certification in LEAN Six Sigma; Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) methodology; and 
• Apply DMAIC methodology to a hospital-specific initiative focused on safety, readmissions, patient experience, antibiotic stewardship, discharge planning, immunization, or emergency preparation.

 

AGENDA: LEAN Six Sigma (LSS) certification is best learned through focused training sessions spaced logically to allow for practical application of each phase between sessions. Participants will receive customized coaching sessions between training events.

DEFINE: April 30: Introduction to LSS; setting projects up for success through defined charters, process mapping, and identifying key metrics.

MEASURE: June 4: How good is your data? Measurement System Analysis; data collection plan, sampling strategy, leveraging technology.

ANALYZE: August 13: Using statistical analysis to differentiate; hypothesis testing; graphical analysis; visually presenting data for impact.

IMPROVE: September 17: LEAN principles of standardization, visual management and jidoka; overcoming resistance; piloting improvements; measuring project benefits. 

CONTROL, RESULTS, SUMMARY AND GRADUATION: November 12
LEAN principles of measuring project benefits; and Participants will share results to date; collaboration across hospitals; certification will be granted; next steps will be determined for continual quality improvement.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

 

ACHE Qualifying Education Credit (ACHE Category II): By attending the 2024 Lean Six Sigma – Green Belt Training offered by LHA Management Corporation, participants may earn up to 28.0 ACHE Qualifying Education Hours toward initial certification or recertification of the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) designation. Participants in this program wishing to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualifying Education credit should indicate their attendance when submitting an application to the American College of Healthcare Executives for advancement or recertification.

 

Nursing: Up to 28.0 contact hours will be awarded for this offering by the Louisiana Hospital Association for complete attendance of the program. The Louisiana Hospital Association is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing – CE Provider #39.

 

Other Participants will receive, upon completion of workshop, a certificate documenting the completed continuing education/clock hours.

SUBSTITUTION POLICY: Registrants who are unable to participate in an LHA educational event are permitted and encouraged to have an eligible substitute; however, written notice of the substitution must be emailed to [email protected] at least seven business days in advance of the event. The substitution option is not available if written notification is received by the LHA less than seven business days before the scheduled program.
